Thanks to customer feedback found an issue with internally rotated formats only seen from camera capture. Release 1.2.2 addresses this issue along with removing advertising for the free version (thanks to our customers for making it such a great success so far!) and changed the base settings to improve the visual quailty of the free version.

New bubble pop animation
Bubble pop sounds! Not only do bubbles pop but try out mixed mode or different bubble radius and listen to them go POP with different pop sounds!

Answering all your requests in a single go! Well hopefully …. Version 1.2 reworks the GL resource management for Bubbles to improve compatibility with many android devices. Along with the resource re-work the user interaction was also improved by removing as many cases as possible where Bubbles had to restart along with improved performance when switching between applications and back to home along with other areas.

Flurry 2.2.3

Another quick blog post, as always , to cover the small updates released in flurry 2.2.3. Some users complained about pixelation on several of the newer devices released this year, this was due to two factors:

1. For some of the new phones the linear sampling used to allow us to upscale the rendered content is broken on several of the phones

2. Due to GL limitations we are forced into power of two sizes, and on most phones both power of 2 and square dimensions, and the newer aspect ratios were causing smaller than necessary targets for rendering

Solving this problem generically poses an interesting problem for us, as by enforcing maximum quality will sometimes cause GL issues on phones that are not well tested with larger resource dimensions. A decision was made to re-code the algorithms to maintain the speed you have come to love while maintaining the rendering quality needed to ensure the best looking flurry on any device.

An unfortunate side effect of this change is that some of the older devices on the market that are not well tested, the old droid still works (what a rock solid phone, and supported neon, man we have gone downhill from that point!), and while we have tested a range of devices before release, we will continue to patch any GL issues that come up. Bubbles 1.1.3

The 1.1.3 release was a quick bugfix and rendering fix for certain phones. The bugfix patch fixed orientation physics that would allow bubbles to move inside one another if held in a given orientation long enough along with fixing a force close that could occur from the physics. On the rendering side we fixed the resource management to catch when a gl context was lost after a new application came up in front of the live wallpaper.

Release 1.1.2 added some much needed optimization to the physics engine, reducing CPU time by over 50% for the lowest level phones. Along with the physics update we added a new display mode called “Mixed Mode Rendering”. The new feature allows for a range of bubble sizes around the currently selected radius to interact with one another. Thanks to Jon in the forums for posting up this request as it added some much needed “coolness” to Bubbles .

Put out a quick bug-fix for bubbles to resolve some issues people were having with the freeze events in the pro version of the application and to harden the code against some other possible future bugs that we have identified from testing locally. Thanks to everyone who reported on the issue!

Freeze them, pop them, and lock them! We have added touch support to bubbles in this update allowing for two touch modes freeze, and pop. In freeze mode you can tap to freeze a moving bubble in place or tap that bubble again to resume movement. For the pop box you can tap any moving bubble and watch them disappear into a swirling vortex. What do you say? What happens when I have popped all the bubbles on the screen? Well tap anywhere that a bubble is not moving to create more bubbles! Once you hit the max the phone will vibrate again and notify you that you cannot add more bubbles. We also fixed a common bug among live wallpapers where very large background (> 4mb) often are not supported at the full dimensions. Head on over to the product page and check out the features!
